The Child Dental Benefit Scheme at KB Village Dental

At KB Village Dental, we are committed to ensuring that everyone, from the youngest to the oldest, enjoys a lifetime of good oral health. We believe children and young people deserve access to good oral hygiene.

Fortunately, as part of the country’s National Oral Health Plan, the Australian Government’s Child Dental Benefits Scheme (CDBS) is a program all children can access to cover the cost of their dentistry. With over $1000 in benefits over a two-year period, this scheme aims to provide children with essential dental care.

What is the Child Dental Benefits Scheme?

The Child Dental Benefits Scheme (CDBS) is a government-funded initiative designed to make essential dental care accessible to eligible children. It provides access to up to $1052 in benefits over two consecutive calendar years, covering most basic general dental services, ensuring that kids get the right start for a lifetime of oral health. The payment will reset every two years.

Services covered by the CDBS:

Services NOT covered by the CDBS:

  • Orthodontics, such as braces and Invisalign
  • Cosmetic dental work, such as veneers
  • Any dental services in a hospital
  • Services provided under general anaesthetic

Through the CDBS, eligible children have the opportunity to receive dental care that sets them on the path to a healthy smile. With our commitment to providing high-quality dental treatment in a safe and comfortable environment, KB Dental Village makes it easy for parents and caregivers to access these benefits for their children.

Eligibility for the Child Dental Benefits Scheme

The eligibility requirements children must meet to receive the necessary dental care are relatively simple and accessible. Regardless of your health fund, or the healthcare providers or clinic you attend, the Australian government has standardised the Child Dental Benefits Scheme across the country.

There are only three criteria a child or young person must meet to be able to receive the benefits of CDBS:

  1. Must be 17 years old or younger;
  2. Must be eligible for Medicare;
  3. A parent or caregiver must receive Family Tax Benefit Part A or relevant payments from Services Australia.

There is no need to register for the Child Dental Benefits Scheme as, usually, Services Australia will inform you if your family is eligible. You can also check your child’s eligibility and CDBS balance through your Medicare online account at myGov or by calling 132 011 for general Medicare questions.

Our team at KB Village Dental is dedicated to helping you navigate the necessary paperwork and ensuring the process is as smooth as possible. Just mention that you will utilise the Child Dental Benefits Scheme. There will be some consent forms to sign, and our staff will take care of the rest.

Setting the Stage for a Lifetime of Healthy Smiles

At KB Village Dental, we are passionate about fostering a positive approach to dental care for children and ensuring their earliest experiences with a dentist are welcoming, engaging, and fun.

Dr Evan Soulos, our principal dentist, believes in fostering proactive dental care and ensuring that children develop a lifelong habit of caring for their teeth. There’s no fixed time when your children should have their first check-up — it may be as early as 3 months old or as late as 18 months. For your child to be eligible for CDBS, they only have to be a day old.

Dr. Evan Soulos’s gentle and calm approach to patient care is particularly evident when he treats children. As a family man himself, he understands the importance of making dental visits a positive and enjoyable experience so that kids are more likely to embrace a lifetime of oral care.

With over 15 years of experience, Dr Evan has perfected the art of pain management. Even reluctant children can enjoy a quality dental visit tailored to their needs and age level. Oral health for the family isn’t a one-size-fits-all affair. Dr Evan and his thorough team of dentists at KB Village Dental will ensure the dental health of each family member is individually attended to and receives the care they require.

Our focus is on building trust and ensuring that every child feels safe, secure, and confident in the dentist’s chair. By providing engaging and fun dental experiences, we set the stage for children to take a proactive approach to their oral health.
