Tooth Coloured Fillings

Are you self-conscious about your unsightly old amalgam (silver) fillings?

Alternatively, if the aesthetics don’t bother you- are you aware that old Amalgam fillings are renowned for setting up fractures in the teeth they occupy and for allowing tooth decay to proliferate underneath the amalgam filling? If you have a number of amalgam fillings, you surely know the feeling of having the side of a tooth break off when eating something as innocent as toast!

Technology has progressed a long way past amalgam, and removing these old fillings will not only look significantly better, but enable your dentist to conserve as much of your own natural tooth structure as possible.

Ceramic Restorations in a Single Sitting

If you have a cracked or decayed teeth, tooth-coloured fillings may be the most desirable treatment for you. Using CEREC, Dr Evan will get a 3D digital scan of your damaged tooth and then re-create an aesthetically pleasing porcelain ceramic filling or crown to replace it in a single, visit.

Ceramic Inlays and Onlays are tooth coloured customised fillings milled from a block of porcelain ceramic using CEREC. Bonded to the tooth by adhesives, they are made from the same porcelain material as full ceramic crowns but are a more conservative option, as more of your natural tooth structure is preserved. Inlays and Onlays are created to conservatively repair teeth requiring larger restorations.

With CEREC imaging, there’s no need to take impressions. And for those who are interested, you’ll be able to watch Dr Evan design your restoration on the computer. Once the 3-D creation of your restoration or crown is completed and approved, a solid porcelain block is placed in the CEREC milling unit where special tools will sculpt your tooth-coloured restoration to precisely match the computer model rendition and you’ll walk away with your tooth beautifully fortified and restored.

Composite Fillings

Composite fillings are malleable, bonded fillings that can repair decayed, cracked or fractured teeth and can also be used to close spaces between teeth or to veneer teeth and are tooth coloured to precisely match the colour of existing teeth.

At KB Village Dental on Sydney’s Lower North Shore, Dr Evan can talk to you about the most suitable ways to restore your teeth.
